A "ratio" is just a comparison between two different things. For instance, someone can look at a group of people, count noses, and refer to the "ratio of men to women" in the group. Suppose there are thirty-five people, fifteen of whom are men. Then the ratio of men to women is 15 to 20.
Hope this help

You have a number say 8 and you put that over your total. Then you put = and x opposite the 8 and put that over 100. Now multiply cross corners.

Hi my name is Danielle. I saw that you needed help with ratios so here it is. Ratios are kinda confusing. I got confused by them also. But then it became easy. OK. You have 2 numbers and they are a 1 and be 10. 1x10=10. So you will but that answer in your first set of boxes. Second 2x10=20. Then you will multiply 10x10 and you get 100. you multiply each number by itself. it is kinda just like mulitplacation except in another kinda way. In a chart way.

A ratio is making a comparison between to numbers: For example 3:1 or 3/1. A simple example would be 3 cups of milk to 1 cup of flour. Ratios are commonly used to find an unknown, which is what I think you are looking for. Here is an example of how to solve an unknown in a ratio:

Tom runs 4 miles in 40 minutes. At that rate, how far could he run in 75 minutes?

To solve this problem you need to set up two ratios with one unknown being distance or x. You need to make sure that the ratio with the unknown has the units in the same place as the known ratio.

4miles/40 minutes = x miles/75minutes
4/40=x/75 now you must solve for x by multiplying each side by 75 minutes. You notice that the units cancel out to leave you with distance.
x=7.5 miles
