need help with general algebra equations: I got stumped when it became 2 parts 6x + 3 = 2x + 5

6x +3= 2x +5
-2x -2x
4x + 3= 5
-3 -3
4x=2
Divide 4 by each side
x= 1/2

First you need to get the variables on one side and the numbers on the other by doing like operations:

6x+3-3=2x+5-3
6x=2x+2
6x-2x=2x-2x+2
4x=2
4x/4=2/4
x=2/4=1/2
