Stockton never gave a clear answer to his writing of the lady or the tiger, why he wrote it or what it really meant, what is taught in schools is would she prefer to die than to see her lover marry another. other things that should be discussed is the role of the king- his justification for such a punishment, and how would such a punishment of this type go over in today's society.

Was the princess honest with her lover, was she willing to let him go? Was the tiger to the right or was she assuring that her love would belong to nobody else? Had she inherited/learned her fathers barbarian ways? Did the lover trust the princess? How can the author write that the person was determining himself/herself if he/she was guilty? Is not guilt or innocence a fact not a chance selection? So many questions to explore/debate and no place to find an answer. Brilliant!
